Dear Senator Boxer

The Honorable Barbara Boxer
United States Senate

Dear Senator Boxer,

I heard this clip of you some weeks ago and it has really rankled me. Remember when you saw fit to embarrass Brigadier General Michael Walsh for calling you "ma'am?" Remember when you interrupted a man who keeps us SAFE and asked him to call you "Senator" because you worked hard for that title? I thought it was incredibly rude and telling of you, a United States Senator, to be so petty and ask him to stroke your ego.

I was looking through Etiquette for all Occasions by Carolyn Hager Shaw this afternoon when I saw this table on the appropriate way to address people. As you can see General Walsh was being as polite as possible to you, which is more than I can say for your behavior.
I hope this can be of some help to you in the future, unless of course, you were offended that he reminded you that you were a woman. If that is the case you might want to make a press announcement asking people to address you as "sir."
Very truly yours,
Samurai Mom

Mommy needs a mommy

I feel a cold coming on. It started with the chiropractor visit and this morning was a slight cough. Moose is getting it too. I have been trying to rest but have not been successful. I have also been trying to take care of myself, but again unsuccessful. It is times like these when I need my mom to take care of me.

Here is a little photo I wanted to share with you that doesn't really warrant an entire blog post
The dark, mean side of Nutmeg. That is her mid swing as she hits me because she doesn't want her photo taken. She does this a lot it is something we need to work on.

I just can't resist

When Nutmeg wants something she will say ever so politely and sweetly "Could you share?" If she said "Will you," or "Can you?" I would probably say, "No, it's mine." because you know mothers get the last little bit of everything, the leftovers. But that "Could you?" melts me every time and I acquiesce.
Nutmeg picked out this skirt herself. She chose the color, the fabric, the ribbon and demanded the flower buttons. I gave in to it all because how often are you a little girl that wants a your mom to make you a pink skirt? How many times will I have this opportunity? How many girls do I have? Like President Monson said this morning, tomorrow comes too soon and I don't want empty yesterdays.
I am pleased, she has been wearing it for 3 days in a row.
