International Day of the Midwife

Where do you find the words for the woman who was there for you through 18 months of complaining, 8 hours of labors, weeks of prodromal labor, 1 posterior baby with a nuchal hand, 2 postpartum cleanups, many postnatal visits, countless fears and a million hugs and tears, the woman who was there when you confessed between rushes "I don't want to do this." and she simply said "I know." and hugged you, the woman who told you "You labored like a queen." The woman who is all the good things of a sister, friend, mother and grandmother combined. The one full of unconditional love,
The woman who was there for this,
and this,
and should have been there for this?
The woman who you can look up to?
There is only one word...
MIDWIFE.

Thank You Betty, I love you.
